Tracking Progress

Tracking and monitoring is the ongoing evaluation of student progress against targets set at the beginning of the year.

Each student should have a set of achievable yet challenging targets made up of the number of credits needed to fulfill his or her academic goals.

Throughout the year, the number of internally assessed credits obtained are checked against the individual targets that have been estimated. If the targets do not align, this means possible actions may be taken by the academic counsellor and individual subject teachers.

The use of ‘real-time’ student achievement data is an important factor in the success of the tracking and monitoring phase. A ‘traffic light’ system is used to record teachers’ expectations in individual subjects and the alignment of academic targets and progress. This ensures a timely intervention for students at risk of not achieving targets.
