Literacy Leadership

Literacy leadership in New Zealand secondary schools is challenging and complex.

Starpath recommends that each school has a designated leader of literacy with responsibility for literacy programmes and teacher professional learning and development.

This is especially important in light of the literacy qualifications in the NCEA framework. The literacy leader/co-ordinator is a demanding and pivotal leadership position.

This literacy leadership section covers some key aspects of the role and provides links to some of the many online tools available to support literacy leaders in this important work.
