Core Group Meetings

Core Group Meetings are where professional learning conversations take place amongst a group of teachers who teach a common junior form class.

These meetings and professional learning conversations give rise to professional learning communities.

The meetings involve the sharing of evidence for the purpose of raising student achievement. The focus of these meetings is on outcomes for students in classes and on strategies for enhancing learning rather than on teachers’ curriculum areas.

As part of the meeting, a common goal is jointly decided amongst teachers at the meeting, which they will all work towards. Strategies are decided upon for use across curriculum areas. Evidence of use of these strategies is to be tabled at the next meeting to measure progress and success.
