The faculty offers you a range of postgraduate study options and professional development opportunities. Deciding on which is the right programme for you to study will depend on your education and career goals. This page outlines the postgraduate programmes the Faculty of Education offers.

Social Services

If you are working in social services and want to gain a qualification in professional supervision or in health social work you could study for a:

Advancing from a diploma qualification

If you hold a teaching diploma or other undergraduate professional qualification in teaching, you can upskill by enrolling in one of the following options:

Applicants who have completed other relevant professional qualifications may gain entry into the:

Advancing from a bachelors degree

If you hold a bachelors degree in teaching, education, social work or other relevant profession, you may be able to upskill with one of the following options:

With a postgraduate diploma or honours qualification you could then go on to masters and doctoral study.

If you hold a four-year degree (eg, BPE) you may be eligible to enter into the Master of Professional Studies in Education*.

If you hold a Bachelor of Arts in Education you could study for a:

Advancing from a graduate diploma qualification

If you hold a graduate diploma in teaching, education or other relevant profession, you could advance to the next level with one of the following:

If you hold a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) (Honours) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education with an appropriate grade point average, you can apply to enrol in a one year:

With a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) (Honours) it may also be possible to enrol directly into a Doctor of Philosophy in Education or Doctor of Education if you meet the eligibility requirements.

If you are currently in a leadership role or interested in taking on a leadership role in your school, centre or organisation, the faculty offers the following:

If you wish to study at doctoral level, we offer the following:

Certificate of Proficiency (COP)

If you are uncertain about postgraduate study but want to test the waters by doing a course, why not consider enrolling one course as a COP? If you enjoy the course and want to go on and earn a qualification you can apply to re-assign a course or courses passed for a Certificate of Proficiency to a taught Masters degree, a Postgraduate Diploma or a Postgraduate Certificate provided that:

  • no more than 30 points are reassigned
  • the enrolment in the postgraduate qualification is no later than three semesters from the initial enrolment in the course(s) reassigned from the Certificate of Proficiency
  • the application to reassign is made at the time you are admitted to the postgraduate qualification
  • the course is available in the schedule of the qualification to which it is re-assigned.

The standard entry criteria into 700-level courses apply.
