"I decided to enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Education because I wanted to move into leadership roles. Most of my courses have been in the area of leadership with a few in assessment. The programme has really honed my skills and knowledge in these areas, and it’s relevant and current information that I can take back to school. Not only has it given me a sense of achievement, but I am able to pass on my knowledge to the beginning and tutor teachers I look after, as well as teachers in the junior school. It’s been useful to meet other like-minded people who are in similar situations because networking facilitates the professional sharing that is so important in our work."

Julie Cowan is currently studying for a Graduate Diploma in Education and is Acting Associate Principal at Willowbank School in Howick.
