“I chose the Honours programme because it had a strong research component and could be completed during a year’s study leave. My research examined parents’ perceptions of written reporting and I really enjoyed the challenge and sense of purpose and achievement. More than just academic learning, my study forced me to examine the personal and social phenomena that have influenced my pedagogy and made me the person I am. It also provoked me to take a few risks and make some changes. I would encourage anyone to use the opportunity study leave offers to take time out from teaching to catch up with current thinking and become more reflective in their practice.”

Anne Heath took leave from her role as Deputy Principal of Orewa Primary School to complete a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) (Honours).
