About us
Welcome to the School of Teaching, Learning and Development.
The School of Teaching, Learning and Development focuses on research and teaching in: educational, developmental and social psychology; learning, teaching and assessment; special education; educational leadership; teacher learning and development; and the professional practice of teaching. Much of the research in the School is focussed on investigating and informing practice.
We have a strong local, national and international reputation. More than forty academic staff contribute to teaching, research and leadership. Our faculty lead substantial national research and professional development contracts e.g. asTTle, Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme), Induction and Mentoring Programme, First Time Principals Programme, Resource Teacher: Learning and Behaviour programme and Building Evaluative Capability in Schooling Improvement. School research focuses on real-world problems investigating issues identified in our communities.
Academic staff make significant contributions to teaching and supervision in professional teacher education and liberal arts programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. We also contribute to the Faculty of Education programmes in the areas of human services, special education and leadership and management. In addition, the staff contribute to programmes in the Arts and Science faculties. The School is the primary national provider of special education programmes. Our teaching and supervision demonstrate innovation through the use of multimodal pedagogies and a commitment to creating vibrant learning for a diverse range of students. The dedication to high quality teaching, learning and research is facilitated by capable administrative staff.
