Social Work and Human Services

Welcome to the Social Work and Human Services programme.

"Human services" is an inclusive term covering government and non-government social services, and includes social work, disability support, youth work, community work, counselling and community work.

Graduates from our programmes may work in services for particular communities with health or welfare needs, and in services set up to support and help disabled people or those living with mental illness.

A unifying concept in this area is that of empowerment, empowering people of integrity, who possess excellent skills and a strong ethical base to, in turn, empower those who face challenges to reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives.

'E raka te mauī, e raka te katau'
'A community can use all the skills of its people'
