"I decided to go teaching because I wanted something more rewarding than my office job, work where I could see day-to-day progress in what I was doing. Studying, working and travelling has given me good life experience and I feel well prepared for teaching having completed a Graduate Diploma in Teaching. The lecturers and programme coordinators were really supportive and they listened to me when I said I wanted to do my practicum in a school with a holistic child-centred focus. They gave me personal feedback that I could relate to and helped with strategies to manage study and personal life. I now teach a Year 2 class which is a great age group as they are becoming independent and are keen to learn. It’s really rewarding seeing how much they progress and what I can do for them. Every day is different and I’m happy because I’m doing something I enjoy and the kids always brighten my day."
