Where can it take you?

Successful completion of this certificate helps you meet the entry criteria for admission to The University of Auckland for any of the undergraduate programmes of study offered by the Faculty of Education.

You can apply to study in early childhood teaching, primary teaching, physical education teaching, social work, youth work or disability studies.

During your foundation certificate study you have the opportunity to pick electives in these fields to give you an idea of what these fields of study are like. This will help you to see where your interests lie if you haven't already made this decision.

You'll be familiar with the tertiary study environment because you've already studied the foundation certificate right here on campus. This means you'll be ready to get straight into your first year of degree study without having to settle into a new environment and student life.
Even if you don't go on to further study, the certificate will give you lifelong learning skills.

How do you get in?

  • be a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of New Zealand
    and
  • have completed NCEA Level 2 at a New Zealand secondary school or its equivalent
    or
