Practicum

Over the course of this programme you will spend a minimum of 20 weeks on practical teaching experience, called practicum, observing and teaching in a range of early childhood education settings. Practicum is critical to get a feel for what it’s really like to be in a centre.

The purpose of practicum is to give you the opportunity to observe expert teaching, practise your own skills and discuss relevant issues with practising professionals. The practicum programme is a collaborative partnership with a consortium of centres where you’ll be placed in a number of different centres to experience a range of settings.

Faculty lecturers will also visit you to support your development as a teacher, and to provide feedback.

Assessment

Over the course of the programme you’ll be assessed through assignments, practical work experience in early childhood centres and examinations.
