"I believe strongly in the value of technology education so my thesis focused on how technology educators access ‘communities of practice’ and how learned knowledge is passed on. Learning is transmitted by communities and in the technological world we have many communities of experts working in the ‘real world’. Little research had been done on how these contacts are established or how teachers can work with these experts in a classroom setting.
Through my postgraduate study I met inspiring people from all disciplines of education, and I loved the research aspect of my study. I also plan to publish a paper so the teachers who helped me can get access to the findings. The Faculty of Education has a great reputation and its staff includes recognised experts in technology education. The flexible teaching approaches - online learning, face-to-face and videoconferencing - were really useful."
