The culmination of study at The University of Auckland is celebrated at traditional graduation ceremonies. Upon successful completion of the requirements for their particular course of study, eligible students will be invited to apply to graduate. Graduation ceremonies are held each year in Autumn (in the first week of May) and Spring (in the last week of September), and students are invited to graduate in the next round of graduation ceremonies following the completion of their studies. Graduation is a happy occasion when the faculty of the University gathers to celebrate the achievements of our students, along with their friends and families.
In addition to the ceremonies themselves, the proceedings on each graduation day begin with the traditional street procession from the University to the Auckland Town Hall. The procession winds its way through busy city streets with up to 1,800 participants, all wearing their colourful academic dress, receiving the congratulations of the City of Auckland as they pass by. Graduands are also invited to various functions and celebrations organised by their relevant departments, faculties and student groups. A highlight of graduation week is the graduation concert, featuring performances from students within the University’s National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries.
The next round of ceremonies will be in Autumn 2008, held at the Auckland Town Hall from Thursday 1 May to Friday 9 May. A schedule of ceremonies is available.
Applications to graduate will be available for eligible students on nDeva from 12 December 2007. The application closing date is 7 March 2008.
Below are the proposed future Graduation dates. Final, confirmed ceremony dates and a detailed ceremony schedule for the upcoming graduation period will be listed on http://www.auckland.ac.nz/graduation approximately four months before the start of the ceremonies. Eligible students will receive graduation information by mail and are advised not to make any arrangements (e.g. travel bookings) until they check their final ceremony allocation, which is listed on their personalised Application to Graduate form in nDeva.
