My teaching interests are practitioner learning, research and pedagogy. I coordinate a post graduate course EDPRFST 755, The Inquiring Teacher. I have taught and coordinated courses in the Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) and taught in the B Ed (Teaching) programme.
My research focus is on beginning teacher induction and learning. I am interested in constructs of the good/effective teacher, the relationship beween school cultures, leadership, mentoring and the advancement of teachers' practice, the assessment of beginning teachers and the social context of teachers' work. My research methodologies are qualitative. I have utilised surveys, interviews-one to one and focus group, and to a lesser extent document analysis and NUDIST.

I am working collaboratively with NZCER on a beginning teacher induction research contract . I am programme monitor for: Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) Massey University; Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) Dunedin College of Education; Bachelor of Education (Teaching and Learning), Bachelor of Education (Teaching and Learning) Honours, Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) Christchurch College of Education.

Initial teacher education and the status and work of teachers in society is of interest to me. I enjoy art, reading, film and the many "20 somethings" that are my family.
