Short introduction
Alan is currently the Head of the Health and Physical Education academic group He has been passionately involved in all aspects of the field, from coaching and playing basketball to developing the Bachelor of Physical Edcuation. His interests have centred on critical pedagogy, professional learning, the practicum and skill development.

Area of expertise
Physical education pedagogy with an emphasis in areas such as learning in through and about games and the sociology of the body.
Research and professional interest
The professional development of teachers, especially in relation to preservce teacher education. Methodologies for researching lived experience such as phenomenological hermeneutics, group memory-work, and narrative analysis. Also interested in action research and the concept of reflexivity in methodology.
