Research

Welcome to the Research Unit at the Faculty of Education at The University of Auckland. The Faculty is New Zealand’s largest specialist teacher education provider, provides programmes in education, social work and human services, posgraduate qualifications in Education and Social Services and foundation courses to facilitate entry to degree and diploma programmes. The Faculty is at the forefront of research in the fields of education, social work and human services.

At the Faculty of Education we:

• bring nationally and internationally recognised research scholars from throughout New Zealand and overseas to present at our weekly research seminars.
• support and encourage high quality research and development outputs through advice, service and contestable research support funding. These funds can be used for conference attendance, research project costs, publication assistance and to assist staff to run national and international conferences.
• encourage staff to use RIMS (Research Management Information System) to keep their record of published research outputs up to date.
• support staff participation in research activity by hosting weekly research seminars . While some feature prominent researchers, new and emerging researchers are encouraged to present and other seminars focus on providing procedural information such as how to prepare ethics applications or how to apply for research funding.
• support Schools to take on the editorial role to publish staff and students work in our ACE Papers publication.
• publish a monthly e- newsletter to celebrate and recognise staff academic achievements and new publications.
• invite teachers from early childhood centres, primary and secondary schools, and interested persons from other education agencies to our weekly seminars to stimulate the New Zealand educational research community.
