The Starpath Project has launched a new website: www.starpath.auckland.ac.nz. The website has been redesigned to ensure that interested parties in New Zealand and international researchers and teachers have easy access to updates and new developments. The website provides background information, and news and profiles of researchers and staff. Reports, papers and summaries will be posted on the site as they become available.
Starpath is a research project based at the Faculty of Education’s Epsom campus, where the team is led by Associate Professor Elizabeth McKinley.
It is a Partnership for Excellence led by The University of Auckland in a joint venture with the New Zealand Government. The aim of Starpath is to address New Zealand’s comparatively high rate of educational inequality among Māori and Pacific Island students, and students from low socio-economic backgrounds.
It is the first rigorous research project to look into the impact of socio-economic status on educational achievement in New Zealand. Working with schools and institutions, Starpath aims to transform education outcomes for groups of students traditionally under-represented at tertiary level in New Zealand.
