Daniel Greenwood came to Epsom campus in the year 2000 and studied the Certificate of Human Service. He then returned in 2003 and enrolled in the Bachelors of Physical Education. Daniel has required support from New Zealand Sign Language Interpreters and note takers for every class, meeting and camp during his degree.
Daniel had his teaching placements at a range of schools and taught both Deaf and hearing children during this time. He is the first Deaf person in New Zealand to graduate with the Bachelor of Physical Education but we have numerous other Deaf Teachers many of whom have trained at this campus.
Disability services co-ordinated all the necessary support for Daniel and the cost of this is met largely by a student supplementary grant from TEC with some funds from the university.
