Equal Opportunities at the Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education contributes to the development of strategies, policies, programmes and procedures that enable the Faculty to fulfil its commitment to equal opportunities in professional education and employment. To this end the Faculty maintains an Equity Committee and the terms of reference are as follows:

  • To report and recommend to Faculty and the Dean on policy and procedures in the areas of Equal Employment and Equal Education Opportunities and the Faculty’s strategic development in equity related matters.

  • To promote, disseminate, develop and monitor implementation of EEO and EEdO policies and best practices in accordance with the University of Auckland’s and Faculty of Education’s responsibilities and statutory obligations in these areas and under the Treaty of Waitangi.

  • To monitor and evaluate EEO and EEdO performance and procedures across the Faculty and advise the Dean on EEO and EEdO compliance and resources needs.

  • To nominate EO representatives to sit on Faculty Committees as required.

The Chair of the Faculty Equity Committee is a member of the Faculty Management Committee which enables equity matters to be kept at the forefront of discussions related to the operation of the Faculty.
