Brian was a classroom teacher for twenty years and has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Education since 1986. He was a facilitator for teaching professional development programmes in Mathematics and Science, and an Adviser to schools for the Auckland Advisory Service in 1992 - 5.

He is co-author of the Young Australia Maths, Level 7 Textbook, and has published a wide range of articles of practical interest to teachers. Brian has an ongoing involvement in schools, facilitating many workshops and professional sessions for teachers to establish curriculum messages as a driving force.
His chief research interest is in the teaching of decimal fractions to children and the development of resources to promote this. Brian is the co-ordinator the 921.632 third year programme.
