Faculty of Education and Social Work

Find out about postgraduate studies with the School of Critical Studies in Education.

The School of Critical Studies in Education research and teaching is motivated by the need for transformations in education, from early childhood through to higher and adult education, which contribute to a more socially just and equal – a more democratic and humane society.

As the School's name suggests, the courses and research strengths of the School of Critical Studies in Education all have a critical dimension: through examining the changing socio-cultural, historical, philosophical, political and economic contexts in which current education practices are produced, staff and students engage in questioning and exploring accepted ideas about education.

The School is also committed to providing our postgraduate students with a flourishing, collegial environment for their study and research.

We hold a regular series of research seminars presented by staff and postgraduate students, as well as other events including workshops, visiting scholars and social occasions. We welcome and encourage postgraduate student participation in all these activities.
