Orientation and Induction information 2017

Welcome to the Faculty of Education 2017 Orientation page

The programme induction days have been organised as the first step in a career-long process of professional growth.

The Induction Day is considered by the faculty to be the first official day of your programme of study and you are required to attend.

On this day you will:

  • Be officially welcomed onto the campus
  • Meet key faculty staff
  • Be shown how to access the programme handbook
  • Find out about the faculty services
  • Discuss professional expectations and requirements
  • Be given curriculum documents

Online Orientation

The online orientation programme exists to support programme induction days. Log into your Online Orientation programme, where you'll explore student life, learn about support services, and get some tips on how to be successful academically.

Postgraduate Orientation

Postgraduate Orientation

Date: Wednesday 1 March 2017
Time: 5pm - 6.30pm
Location: A201a Epsom Campus

Faculty of Education postgraduate students are invited to attend this Orientation evening. Meet with other postgraduate students and talk with student representatives. Meet the Assistant Deans (Postgraduate), Doctoral Adviser and Associate Dean (Postgraduate). Find out about student support opportunities on the Epsom and City campuses. Light refreshments will be provided. Please register at  www.pgorientation2017.eventbrite.com  

Please note: Doctoral students are welcome to attend although they have their own personalised inductions as required.


As a first-year student, you must do the DELNA Screening regardless of your language background, school results or entry qualifications to be eligible for practicum placement.

The Screening is a computer-based assessment and consists of vocabulary and timed reading tasks. You do the Screening once only (not for each course). There will be timetabled screening sessions as part of your programme induction day.
