Faculty of Education and Social Work

The participation process: From abstract to symposium day

  • Decide if you want to do an oral presentation, performance or a poster
  • Access the abstract template
  • Look at the abstract reviewer guidelines. These will inform acceptance of your abstract
  • Attend the PGSA workshop on abstract writing (Wed 12 July 2017, 12-1.30pm in A201a)
  • Write your abstract
  • Ask your supervisor for feedback on your abstract. If accepted it will be in the programme under your name
  • Submit your abstract by 7 August
  • Academics from across faculty will review the abstracts.
  • Abstracts will be accepted, offered a resubmission opportunity or rejected.
  • Suggestions will be given by reviewers for those abstracts offered a resubmission opportunity
  • Resubmission due date is one week after the decision email is sent.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the symposium programme.

Abstracts accepted for an oral presentation or performance will be allocated to a presentation time alongside others with similar topics (based on your key words). Posters will be allocated a space in the Music Auditorium. Boards on which to hang posters will be supplied.

  • Prepare your presentation or poster
  • Check the feedback sheet and any other advice on the website

Friday 13 October 2017, 3pm

  • Oral Presentations and Performances: This is the time to load your presentation on the computer in your designated room.
  • Posters: This is the time to set up your poster in the Music Auditorium.

This is a requirement to enable the programme to keep to the time schedule. Members of your PGSA will be available to help you if needed.
